Behind The Lens
Location
The photo was taken at Blackie's Spit in South Surrey, British Columbia. Looking out across the water you are actually looking at Blaine Washington.Time
This was a great time to walk along the beach in the mid evening as the sun was setting over the water.Lighting
All natural lighting bright out the beautiful color of the sky as the sun was setting on a warm evening. The light wind bright the smell of the ocean to the shore and made for a memorable experience.Equipment
This was shot with the Nikon D610Inspiration
The amazing color as it reflected off of the ocean was inspiration to share the image with others as I was experiencing it.Editing
I did no post production editing to this image as with most of my work, I enjoy the documentary style and sharing it as I experienced the scene. In my camera bag
I always keep my D610 handy with a standard lens in addition to a macro and telephoto. I have various other lenses which I take to projects but for standard this is what I like to carry at all times. Add to that, in my car I keep a Manfrotto tripod, LED light panel, WIFI adapter and a wireless remote for my camera.Feedback
Practice Practice Practice. Regardless as to the images you are trying to capture and styles you want to learn, practice is the best lesson. Never be afraid to try something new. Always take several shots from various positions and settings. Share your photos with people who will give you honest feedback. We can be our own worst critics so an honest opinion from someone else will help us continually improve and seek a better image.
