Location
Upper Antelope Canyon, Page AZ. Every photographer should visit the slot canyons in AZ, they are al amazing!Time
6/12/2019 at Approx 2:30pm. When visiting the Slot canyons you definitely want to go between 12pm-3pm when you can capture the best light & best light rays. The slot canyons are dark in some areas so you really need to go on a sunny day.Lighting
This photo was taken looking up at the ceiling of the Upper Antelope Slot Canyon. The light is the key to taking great photos inside the slot canyons.Equipment
Nikon D750, Nikkor AF-S 28-300mm Lense.Inspiration
It was a week long vacation / Photography trip with one of my best friends. We saw all the best attractions in AZ in 8 days. Neither of us had been to the slot canyons before. We had booked 3 in 2 days. Secret Canyon, Lower & Upper Antelope Canyons. All amazing. The Antelope Canyon tours are crowded. We were lucky to have gone to Secret Canyon 1st and only had 8 people on our tour. So my advise is to plan wisely. They do have special photography tours, but they are very expensive. So amazing. You will feel like you are on mars!Editing
Zero edits to this photo. This was perfect as shot.In my camera bag
Nikon D750, multiple lenses ranging from 50mm, 24-120mm & 28-300mm as well as wide angle & fisheye lenses. I also take My Nikon D3200 with & multiple lenses too. Flash for each, tripods & 6 fully charged batteries For each camera with multiple USB battery chargers for the car (much easier especially when traveling).Feedback
Always look up up to see the beauty of the light coming into the slot canyons from the top. Many people were taking photos only at eye level or just of the rocks & light inside. I was taking from all vantage points. The rock formations are so unique, by moving just a few inches every photo is completely different. If the sand is thrown in the air or it’s windy you will also get amazing photos in the slot canyons. So don’t worry if it’s a bit windy. Definitely do not recommend changing your lenses inside the slot canyons, too much sand. Definitely bring multiple cameras with different lenses so you don’t damage them.
