Amsterdam, the Netherlands - October 15, 2011: Occupy demonstrations and manifestations in Amsterdam. The Occupy movement was a worldwide spontanious protest against economic inequality and how the global financial sector acts. The movement started in the US and spread over many countries and cities. On Saturday 15 October 2011 an estimated 1000 people gathered on the Beursplein. As part of the reportage I made there, I captured some faces in the crowd. It is something I often do when I photograph large public events. All these people were there, each for their own reasons. Each of these faces tells a story. Most of these portraits are candid, some taken with consent. Made into a series and converted to black and white because of the Viewbug 'Faces in black and white' challenge.
