It was just 15 minutes from home. I love in Switzerland and I've always loved the woods. This was in a beautiful forest after some fresh snow.Time
It was right after dinner. It was still snowing when we drove to the top of the mountain pass where this forest is. We parked our car and went for a little hike. Then I waw these logs, found the best composition, adjusted the settings and pressed the shutter. This was one of those photos where it looks very good already straight out of camera. This was November 8th 2020, 5.56PMLighting
It was still cloudy, because it just stopped snowing. And that actually worked out perfectly fine. It adds a certain mood to the photo. Also, it's great to have no big shadows in this particular shot.Equipment
This was manually shot on my Canon EOS80d with the 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 kitlens. I didn't use any other equipment than that.Inspiration
I've always been in love with the woods. The smell of the trees, the sounds you hear, the whole atmosphere is just so nice. And forests are so important for the world. That's why I wanted to take this photo.Editing
Yeah, the color of the logs weren't really as saturated on the original photo. Also I wanted the logs to stand out, so I brought back the shadows, more clarity and a little vignette to make the eye lead to the logs, and still see the trees in the background to be part of the scenery. In my camera bag
Actually always obviously my Canon EOS80d with Kitlens (18-135mm f/3.5-5.6) and a Prime 50mm f/1.8. Sometimes a tripod for long exposure, but that's actually it.Feedback
Yes, just shoot manual. :) And open up your aperture to create depth. And also, go outside as soon asthe first snow of the season enters, it'll give you an extra creative boost.
