Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on a local walk at Townhill Loch in Fife, Scotland

Time

This photo was taken around midday. It was a chilly day even thought the sun was shining, and I loved the way the reflections on the water looked. I couldn't help but snap a quick black and white shot on my phone!

Lighting

Due to the brightness of the sun and it's reflection on the loch, the colours looked a bit washed out on a normal shot so I changed to black and white before capturing as it made the reflections really stand out.

Equipment

This photo was shot on an iPhone 11 pro in black and white mode. No other equipment was used.

Inspiration

I had never seen the reflections look so beautiful on the loch before and thought it was a great contrast to how cold it actually felt outside that day. The sun shining onto the water made the day seem like a beautiful summers day but it was actually a chilly spring day.

Editing

I didn't have to do any post processing on this photo, it was stunning enough without in my opinion!

In my camera bag

I always have my iPhone 11 pro on me when I go out, but I also try to take my Canon EOS M3 with me as well alongside my 15-45mm lens and my 55-200mm lens.

Feedback

If you see a scene like this, think about how it looks in colour before you take the shot, if the colours look washed out due to the sunlight, try switching to black and white to capture how stunning the reflections really are
