A row of old cottages in the ancient town of Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire given a painterly effect. The town, which stands at the point at which Shakespeare's River Avon and the River Severn meet, is famous for its many old buildings - many of them medieval. These cottages stand opposite the Mill Avon river very close to the Abbey Mill and Tewkesbury Abbey itself. Near here the famous Battle of Tewkesbury took place in 1471, decisive in the Wars of the Roses.
