The photo was taken on a trip to the North of England in a village called Gilsland. The Hotel I stayed at had walks leading out from it into the woodland and this bridge took you into the woodsTime
On the day I took this photo I had planned to head out early from the Hotel but I forgot to set my alarm and as I had done a lot of travelling the day before I was quite tired so slept in a bit, so I decided to go for a walk from the Hotel and this was taken at 11:30 amLighting
It was quite an overcast day but occasionally the sun would break through and shine through the leafless trees, when it did the foam on top of the water was lit up, which caught my eye so I decided to stop and take some long exposure images but alas the sun never came back outEquipment
This was shot with my Canon 6D mkII, Canon 24-70 lens and using my sturdy Vanguard Alta Pro 2+ tripodInspiration
I love taking long exposures of water where it will leave some lovely patterns. Once I saw these eddies swirling in different directions I just knew I had to get a few images. I always take quite a few as everyone will be different, and then decide in post which one to useEditing
I did very minimal processing of this image, just some contrast and slight sharpening to really bring out the swirls, but slight softening of the top of the pictureIn my camera bag
I always carry the same equipment in my bag. My Canon 6D mkII, 3 Canon Lenses, Formatt Hitech Filters, assortment of cloths for drying or cleaning, spare batteries and SD cards, a remote and waterproofs, as well a torchFeedback
Take your time to get the image you have in your head. With this sort of shot it will take a few attempts to get the right settings to achieve the desired effect, but once you have them take lots of photos as everyone will be different
