Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken in my home studio. I am an amateur photographer who loves macro photography

Time

Early morning by the window when the light was soft.

Lighting

Water drop photography is all about lighting. I tried to capture the water drop with the tiny reflection of the Lilly trapped inside the subject.

Equipment

I had my Nikon 610 on a tripod using the 105mm macro lens focused on the "water drop". In my experience Glycerine or Corn syrup works best in producing droplets that remain stationary long enough for capturing the image.

Inspiration

I love macrophotography. A fresh Lilly was readily available, and I wanted to create something unusual and special.

Editing

I did a bit of sharpening and color adjustment in LR

In my camera bag

I have a Nikon 610 FF body for macro work close to home with 105mm macro lens. When I travel I pack my Fuji X T2 with a variety of lenses needed for the type of photography I plan to do. Always carry my Induro Tripod on the road depending on the subjects and locations I choose.

Feedback

Always use a tripod for close up work. When shooting water droplets make sure the lighting is diffuse and reflected off a background. On camera flash will likely give you specular highlights and should be avoided in this type of project.
