Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Telegraph Cove BC while I was on vacation. My aunt and uncle took us to the Cove to go whale watching. I took this while waiting for the whale boat.

Time

It was early afternoon in early August

Lighting

The high clouds scattered the sun created a very even level of illumination in the foreground and it was a bit brighter on the kayaks. The clouds were moving and so the light was changing. I snapped 6 frames as the light changed over a minute or so.

Equipment

Taken with a Canon REBEL T6, ISO 100, 1/200 f/9 50 mm no other equipment used.

Inspiration

I liked the contrast between the dark water and mostly white boats in the foreground to the brightly coloured kayaks that formed the background.

Editing

I adjusted the contrast slightly

In my camera bag

Canon EOS REBEL T6, Canon zoom lens 18 - 55 mm, Canon zoom lens 55 - 200 m, UV and Polarizer lenses for both, 6 inch tripod.

Feedback

Keep your camera ready for that something catches your eye. If the light is changing as it was when I took this shot, snap a few frames you might get a surprise. This shot was 3rd in a series of 6 spaced out over a minute or so.
