Artist Simone Leigh's sculpture, dedicated to Black female beauty, references numerous architectural styles including Batammaliba from Benin and Togo; teleuk of the Mousgoum people of Cameroon and Chad; and the restaurant Mammy's Cupboard in the southern United States. The sculpture is currently situated at New York City's High Line Plinth, a location dedicated to a rotating series of contemporary art commissions.
