Location
This capture is from a visit to the Colca canyon in Peru. It’s one of the worlds deepest valleys at 3270 meters. It’s early in the morning. These majestic Condors start to cruise on the thermals as the sun starts to heat the cliffs. They are massive birds, with a wingspan of up to 3.3m. This is a male.Time
I had to get to the canyon early in the morning to be sure to capture this shot. Then it’s a waiting game.Lighting
Early morning sunEquipment
Hand held Canon 1000D that I took travelling for 2.5 years. My first DSLR. It behaved pretty well. It only let me down once in -20 deg C temperatures in the Atacama desert in Chile trying to capture shots of the stars at night. The shutter froze solid.Inspiration
The chance to photograph these massive vultures probably only comes once in most people’s lives.Editing
