Location
This photo was taken along Alliford Bay Rd, just outside the village of Sandspit, British Columbia. I was across the road from the beach, there were 3 eagles on the beach. I saw them as I was driving, I was able to pull over and grab my camera. I forgot I had the IS off after playing with night/low light the night before... it originally came out blurry, but I was able to rescue it.Time
It was taken about mid-day, I was on my way to the airport to fly home. Moresby Island is far enough north that in the summer, daylight lasts for almost 18 hours, so you really get midday light even in the morning.Lighting
It was overcast and windy, but bright daylight. Plenty of light for a telephoto or medium telephoto lens to capture a shot; and because of the cloud cover, there were no harsh shadows.Equipment
This was taken with a Canon T2i and EF-S 55-250mm IS II; handheld out the car window.Inspiration
The eagles of Haida Gwaii are amazing, they're huge and majestic.Editing
Cropped in to ensure the eagle was front and centre, removed haze and applied lens corrections, removed aberration - standard stuff in Lightroom. Used Luminar to enhance colours and the texture of the feathers, and then lastly, used the Topaz Labs Sharpen AI tool to remove blur from camera shake. In my camera bag
My go to camera for taking tripod photos is my Canon 90D. I use my M50 if I am walking. I'll have a fair number of lenses, Tamrom 17-55 f/2.8, Sigma 10-20 f/3.5, Sigma 18-300 f/3.5-5.6, and a Sigma 150-600 f5-6.3. Depending what I'm planning, I'll either use a Manfrotto aluminum 3-axis tripod or a carbon-fibre K&F Concept ball head tripod. I've also got a bunch of filters, ring adapters, a Sigma 70mm ART macro, a Lensball and an Arsenal gadget. And a nice big backpack with padded shoulder straps and a chest strap.Feedback
Be patient, give yourself more time than I had, and make sure the IS is on when you shoot handheld!
