Behind The Lens

Location

I captured this photo in Treasure Island Florida on a family vacation. After leaving the Snow and a two day drive in a Mini Van this was the view from our balcony as we arrived.

Time

This photo was taken during March break, after unpacking into our room I stepped out on the balcony just in time to shoot this Sunset.

Lighting

The beautiful sunset contrasted by the shadow of palm tree was perfect relaxing moment.

Equipment

I shot this using a travel point and shoot digital GC-QX3 Aperture f/4.8 Exposure 1/125 ISO 80. I mostly shoot hand held, but for stability I used the balcony rail to support the camera

Inspiration

The sheer beauty of this sunset, the silhouette of the people on the beach against the colors of the sky, framed by the palm tree. A moment of Awe

Editing

This photo is as shot with very little post processing. I use Lightroom for a little push on the vibrancy to make the colors pop.

In my camera bag

When I am traveling I carry a Canon XSI Rebel my main Lens is a Canon 17-40mm. but I also carry a Canon 50mm, EFS 18-55mm EFS 55-250mm and a Canon Speedlite flash. I have several filters Soligor polaroid, defuser and Tiffen Natural Density N03. I have a couple of tripods but mostly shoot hand held, for the rare need I have a mini tripod.

Feedback

I like to take a test shot and adjust settings to get the picture I am seeing.
