Location
I took this photo in zambia during a trip that saw us in close contact with animals in the parks of zambia and tanzania.Time
Sunset was approaching, the time when the animals begin to come out of their burrows and hiding places in the shade. It was in fact the dry season and during the day it is rare to see animals, they all seek shelter in cool areas and as soon as the sun goes down they go out and head towards the pools of water.Lighting
The tromonto lighting, you know, is one of the best! Especially in Africa he manages to make everything magical. In this case it was simple because the subject was practically posing but often, with animals, you need to be ready and quick to seize the right moment.Equipment
I shot handheld using a canon eos 70D with a 70-200 f / 4.Inspiration
I observe a lot of animals and their behavior at various times of the year and in the different conditions in which they find themselves. I particularly love portraying them in positions and "expressions" that make them appear human, intent on doing actions or immersed in thoughts.Editing
I practically didn't do any post-production work other than a little color correction and black recovery. In my camera bag
In my backpack, in addition to my camera body, I always have 3 lenses: wide angle, normal and telephoto. As a tripod I have a manfrotto be free, a flash and a torch for light painting, spare batteries and filters.Feedback
To get a photo I think it takes a good dose of self-criticism, to take a lot of shots and also look at other people's works. Normally I always first imagine the shot I want to reproduce but often it is time to create the best image. Last but perhaps most importantly, arm yourself with patience and never give up!
