Behind The Lens

Location

I Took this during a in-home session, at Camp Lejeune, NC

Time

Earlier in the morning when the lighting hit my clients home the best. the session started at 10am so probably around 10:30am.

Lighting

in home sessions can be a little difficult lighting wise. Especially military base housing. I used an external flash to help me get the best out of a dark room. I wanted it to look warm and cozy.

Equipment

This was shot on a NIkon D7500 with a 18-200mm AF lens and a Neewer TT560 Speedlite.

Inspiration

My clients welcomed their baby girl into the world on a cold winter day. I wanted a cozy feeling for these photos. I was also inspired to do a in home new born session because my clients are military and move every 3 years. Their new baby will not remember the home she was first brought too but will have these photos to look back on.

Editing

Not very much editing was required. a slight touch up in light room and he photo was ready to go.

In my camera bag

as always my nikon D7500. I have my main 35mm Portrait lens, a 18-200mm, a 55mm, and a 55-200mm. I shoot a lot of portraits so I do like having a wide angle and a zoom to get little details. I also have my speedlite for indoor sessions, and way to many SD cards.

Feedback

When doing in home sessions always bring back up light, you can never rely on just natural light from windows. My best advice is to bounce your speedlite of of walls. you'll get a nice soft natural look to your images.
