Location
Spanish fork, utah. During The festival of colors (Holi) at the local Lotus temple.Time
It was mid afternoon, not ideal shooting time but it was the earliest we could get to the festival.Lighting
This shot was a spur of a the moment capture so I was not very focused on what light I was working with. I saw my sister covered in the colored chalk that is thrown to celebrate Holi and had to capture that moment.Equipment
This was taken in March for 2019 so it was on my old Nikon D5000. I'm pretty sure I shot it on a 35 mm Nikkor AF lens.Inspiration
My sisters eyes. She has always had gorgeous blue eyes, with all the color being thrown around, it made them pop so much more. She had her faced covered with a bandana to keep the colors out of her mouth and nose and she just looked stunning. I had to take that shot.Editing
Just a little bit of lightroom magic. A basic preset to make the colors pop. I did not need much edited as the photo spoke for itself. In my camera bag
At that time I only had my camera and 35mm Nikkor lens on me. Now I have my Nikon D7500, my 35mm my 18-200mm, a 55mm, and a 55-200mm nikkor AF lenses. I also have a speed lite and a few other knickknacks I cant shoot without.Feedback
My best advice, look for the small things. There was so much going on that day I was a bit overwhelmed with what to shoot, my sisters eyes ended up being my most favorite image from that festival.
