Behind The Lens
Location
I am a journalist and was on an assignment in Maio Island in Cabo Verde, where I live. This man is a craftsman who retrieves scraps of metal to make handicraft pieces.Time
This is undoubtedly one of the best portraits I've done since I dedicated myself to photography. It was noon, he was leaving his workshop for lunch. After some insistence, I managed to persuade him to let me take his picture.Lighting
The midday sun created a fantastic contrast. The visor of the cap created a shadow over his face that contrasted with the brightness of his eyes.Equipment
Canon 600D with a 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 lensInspiration
The moment, the light, the modesty of someone who then confessed to me that no one "had done a portrait of him for more than 20 years"Editing
I used photoshop to edit. Mainly to crop the image and to turn it B&W.In my camera bag
I use a Canon 600D with a 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 lens as a main camera. But now I also use a mirrorless Canon EOSM100 and i am loving it.Feedback
