Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in August of 2018 in the beautiful village of Kanaya in Shimada Japan. It was afternoon before the sun disappears behind the hills. I used my Fuji XT-1 with the 50-140 at F3.5. I wanted Shizuka my model to pop out of the lovely green surroundings.

Time

It was early afternoon. We walked from my studio hoping we wouldn't run into the local farmers. The dress Shizuka wore was quite see thru. I'll never forget this shoot. It was her first time shooting outdoors and she couldn't stop laughing. I wish I captured that better but every time I tried I missed. We had so much fun that day and I hope it shows in the images.

Lighting

No lighting for this other than the natural light.

Equipment

I used my beloved Fuji XT1 with the 50-140 lens at F 3.5. Handheld with no flash.

Inspiration

The idea behind this shoot was a country girl next door.

Editing

I used Lightroom just to rbing down the highlights and increase the vibrancy a touch.

In my camera bag

My bag has evolved so much since I switched from Nikon to Fuji. Now I carry a small bag with one body the XT3 and usually my 35 F2, the magic 50-140, and my 16mm. Along with the Godox TT685, a powerpack, and lots of batteries.

Feedback

If you're going to shoot outdoors I highly recommend spending time in the area before the shoot. I sat here reading for a few hours to see what the sunlight would be like and picked the time I wanted with the best light. If I do this again I would use OCF to brighten her face. I didn't use a tripod but I would recommend it if the area is even a little windy. Happy shooting!
