Behind The Lens

Location

This photo of Jay was taken at my home in Matteson, Illinois.

Time

This photo of Jay was taken around 9:00 am just before Naptime for baby Zoe. Jay was watching over baby, as mommy lay her down to sleep.

Lighting

This is a natural light photo. As the sunlight fell upon Jay's coat it brought out the various colors of his fur. There was a bit of a shimmer to his coat giving it a somewhat magical feeling that I was compelled to capture.

Equipment

Shot with iPhone XR Aperture: f/1.8 Exposure 1/60 Focal length: 4.25/1 ISO: 320

Inspiration

The lighting and the fixed attentive look motivated me to take this photo.

Editing

The only post-processing was to use the iPhoto retouch tool to enhance the magical feel and remove those items unwanted in the image.

In my camera bag

Canon 5ooD. Canon 7ooD Canon Powershot several tripods and monopod with tripod base black, silver, and gold reflectors Pivo Silver edition gimbal

Feedback

Give in to impulse. You can always edit a chosen capture to give it the feel and look you had when you took the photo. Most important, show your photos to others to discover the affect your image had on them. I am often surprised by the emotional effect of a capture on those who view it.
