This photo was taken at the Busch Wildlife Conservation grounds in Defiance, Missouri. I was looking for a new place to take pictures in the Fall of 2019 and found this gem of a place. It's a fishing and hunting ground that covers over 36 man made lakes and ponds and used to be a TNT destruction facility during WWII.Time
This I believe was taken around 1 or 2 pm. It was toward the end of my day taking pictures and this one happened to be a great shot straight from the camera. With a little contrast tweaking, it got even better.Lighting
I always tend to shoot under exposed a bit so I had to lighten the image up a bit in post-production, but otherwise the colors you see in the photo are the colors I saw through my camera.Equipment
Pentax K1 with a F 4.5 70-200mm Tamron Lens, No Tripod, no flash.Inspiration
I absolutely love taking pictures of water and trees. It's even better when the two combine. This is one of my strongest reflection shots and it's interesting to me that this is the case because I almost didnt even bother with this shot at all. I was walking past and it seemed a little boring to be honest, but sometimes the thing that seems like it's not worth bothering with can be the most beautiful shot.Editing
There was only a very small amount of post processing on this photo. Contrast and exposure adjustments were the main form here and I brightened the sky up just a smidge. In my camera bag
I always have three lenses with me. My trusty-rusty Tamron lens recently just broke and I'm super sad about it. That lens coupled with my Pentax K1 camera are responsible for this image. I almost never ever take a tripod with me. I probably should, but I find that I can do just as well without it, despite my camera being quite heavy to lug around.Feedback
In this instance I had images dancing in my mind that were from old magazines that I'd read years ago. The landscapes were just breathtaking and I wanted to reflect that kind of quality in the work. Quite a few Viewbug members have been inspiration for me in the past couple of years, and I can honestly say that being a part of this community is pushing me to be a better photographer. I think being able to mimic someone else's technique is a wonderful launching point and can help you develop your own style over time.
