Location
This photo was taken in Bergkwagga Nasional Park near Cradock, South Africa.Time
This photo was taken on 20 September 2019 16:48. The sun was still relatively high in the sky. It was a sunny day.Lighting
The iso was 400 to make up for the 1/320 sec. f/6,3 300 mm. We had to take action photos because the black rhinoceros cow and calf were running quite fast. It was difficult to get them in an opening, so we followed them over a large area. After some time it seemed as if they were getting into an opening looking straight towards us and ready for the perfect capture.Equipment
The camera used was a Nikon D5500. The lens was a Nikon DX AF-S Nikkor 55-300 mm 1:4.5-5.6 G ED.Inspiration
We weren't expecting to find black rhinoceroses in Bergkwagga National Park. A mother with a calf would be something to show other people as a major highlight of the visit to the Park. This was the second time that I have seen black rhinoceroses in the wild and the first time with full horns. I just had to get a photo where the horns had been in perfect sight.Editing
I cropped the photo as well as increased the contrast and sharpened the images. In my camera bag
I now have a Nikon D850 in my bag. The lenses that I now use are Nikon DX AF-S Nikkor 18-55 mm 1:3.5-5.6 GII ED and Nikon VR AF-S Nikkor 200-500 mm f/5.6E ED.Feedback
Be patient. Try to see where the animals are heading and where will you be able to get the best shot. Take many photos at spots where you think the perfect shot may come from.
