Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Rotterdam Zoo, biggest zoo in Netherlands.. I am a self taught photographer and it was first time for me to take a photograph of a subject under water !!

Time

It was somewhere in the afternoon, I went to zoo along with my family.. was not carrying any tripod and the aquarium was inside a cave.. managed to click the shot handheld and this image is very much special to me.

Lighting

I wanted this image too look more natural and had to keep my lens very near to the glass to avoid glare. I took the support of my knee to avoid camera share since I was on very low shutter speed.

Equipment

This was shot on Nikon D5300, 35mm lens with no flash and no Tripod.

Inspiration

Though the subject was in acquarium, I was inspired by the mood set by tentacles.

Editing

I did a very minimal post processing includes brightness and saturation.

In my camera bag

The first thing is 35mm prime, and 70-300 VR ED, couple of basic filters, spare batteries and cards, of course remote shutter.

Feedback

Carry tripod when you go to zoo next time, it helps a lot.
