I absolutely LOVE taking pictures of lightning. No, I don't have a death wish. I just enjoy the hurry up and wait aspect of sitting there in the rain, with clouds overhead, the rumble in the air, the electricity making the hairs on your arms stand up and then all of a sudden....the sky lights up with the most brilliant light you have ever seen and this jagged bolt of bright light reaches up from the ground to meet the one that is coming down from the sky. They connect in a split second to make a perfectly connected line of lightning that if you are not fast enough to catch it, you have missed the opportunity and it is gone forever. Lightning tests you to be on your photography game. It is a game of "catch me if you can" and it never disappoints.
