Location
The photo was taken in Meredith NH which is the Lakes region of NH, which is a tourist region from May thru October.Time
It was 6:15AM in late October before changing the clocks back to standard time. I was up and set before dawn at 6AM to get the glow of the color in the sky since it was a clear cold NH morning. Sunrise was 6:30AM in late October before changing the clocks to standard time. The morning was cold and there was frost on the dock which made it tricky to walk, also the cold created the steam off of the waterLighting
The early morning glow of the sun was highlighted of the clouds which were coming in due to a forecast of rain, the sun was rising over the mountains and there was a sliver of clear sky which the yellow sun was starting to rise, this then back lit the clouds which crated the diffused light and reflection off of the water. Since it was colder than 32 deg F that night and the water was warmer the cold air created a mist off the water which soften its appearance and reflection of the clouds. The dock was covered with frost also.Equipment
Nikon D800, 14mm-24mm Lens & Manfrotto tripod and a quick release head. I set the camera at ISO 100 at 14mm & f/22Inspiration
I was in Meredith for a Wedding the night before which was across the street from the dock, I could see which direction was sunrise and since the boating season has ended the docks were empty, which helped the reflections on the water.Editing
I shot (5) images processed in HDR with (1) stop increments, used Photomatix to process the (5) images, then used Lightroom to enhance the image and Photoshop to finish the shot.In my camera bag
Nikon D800, Nikon 14-24mm Lens, Nikon 85mm lens, Nikon 50mm lensFeedback
As they say always have your camera, investigate the site, and get set up early for the sunrise shot
