The photo was taken at my home in Mumbai. I am a beginner in photography , so I click whenever I behold something remarkable, indoors as well as outdoors!Time
This photo was taken in the afternoon of 30th September 2019, at 14:33 pm, when I was sprinkling water over some flowers to keep them fresh.Lighting
There was enough natural daylight since it was afternoon, but the flower was kept in a small metal bowl , so there was significant shadow over it. However, this was advantageous as I wanted the image to have a moody closeup vibe.Equipment
Since I am a beginner, I have been using my mobile camera so far. I have a Samsung galaxy J2 Ace mobile with an 8mp rear camera which was used to click this photo. No flash was used as I wanted only natural light.Inspiration
I have been wanting to click this kind of closeup shot since I started my photography journey.I was under the impression that I had to have a macro lens to click such a shot, which I didn't have. However that day when I saw the flower inside the bowl with a partial shadow over it, I thought I'd give it a try.Editing
The flower was inside the bowl, so I had to crop it out as much as possible. Whatever small part remained, I added vignette to cover it. I had to experiment with the shadows, contrast and exposure to achieve the desired effect. It took me a couple of days to edit it as exactly as I had envisioned it.In my camera bag
As of now, I am equipped with my Samsung galaxy J2 Ace mobile phone. Recently, I bought few mobile clip-on lenses. I hope to buy a Dslr for portraits and landscapes, and a mobile phone with better camera for macro shots one day.Feedback
As a beginner, I am still learning. But what I learned is it is really about experimenting with light and shadows. Experimenting with different angles and under different light conditions is as much important as post processing. Even with limited equipment , a lot can done in photography!
