Behind The Lens

Location

Mormon Row Historic District, Moose WY - Grand Tetons National park

Time

This was taken at 6:17 PM Sept. 26, 2019.

Lighting

I had taken photos in the morning but wanted evening shots. Was hoping for a great sunset but the vlouds made it moody looking. Nothing special for light set up.

Equipment

Canon EOS 6D with Sigma DG 50-500 lens. I rarely use a tripod, hand held.

Inspiration

This area was just so beautiful and I was trying to capture something of it's past...wondering about the people who came here and built this building...what happened that they left?

Editing

Just basic cropping and balancing light and shadows.

In my camera bag

Just 2 cameras and lenses. 2nd camera is a Canon Rebel T6s with a Canon EFS 18-55 mm. With two Cameras with different lenses I don't have to take the time to change out for close capture and long distance captures.

Feedback

Patiently waiting and taking many, many shots. I like to shoot in the early morning and in the evening because the light is so much better and the shots don't get washed out by sunlight. If it's overcast you just about shoot anytime of the day. I can take several thousand shots throughout the day and only capture maybe 50 that I actually like then dwindle it down to about 12. It always amazes me what will show up in a photo that I did not notice while taking it.
