Behind The Lens
Location
The photograph was taken at Phra Nang Beach, Mueang Krabi District, Krabi, Thailand. It is a small secluded beach south of Railay beach.Time
My wife and I were on holiday in Railay and decided to get away from the crowds, we walked to our favorite beach at about 10h40 for a swim, it was a fantastic day.Lighting
It was a slightly hazy morning with not a breath of wind.Equipment
The photograph was taken with my older Canon 5D mark III, 24-105mm lens at 24mm, ISO 100, 1/800 sec, f/5.6 Since then I have moved on to Mirrorless system and am loving my new Panasonic Lumix G9 as we travel allot and the weight factor has blessing.Inspiration
There are always a few long tail boats (also known as the gondolas of southern Thailand) anchored along the beach and I composed the shot of the beautiful boat with the colourful ribbons tied to the bow with the small island of Ko Rang Nok in the background.Editing
I always take photographs using raw so that I can get the most of them later. I did tweak it in Lightroom a little. In my camera bag
When we travelled to Thailand in July 2016, I was using a full frame system and was struggling with the weight of my camera bag, in it I had my new Canon 5D mark III, Canon 24-105mm f/4 lens, Canon 70-200mm f2.8, Canon 50mm f/1.4, I also was carrying a tripod, gorillapod tripod, spare batteries, charger and lens cleaning gear. Since then I have changed over to the micro four thirds system and have bought the Panasonic Lumix G9 and the exact same range of lenses that I had but the are Lumix/Leica and have reduced the weight of my bag by half. My new system also has fantastic inbody image stabilization. (no looking back)Feedback
I often use the rule of thirds, but in this case the waves breaking on the shore creates a bit of foreground interest leading onto the boat and then finally onto the beautiful overgrown island.
