Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken on the Island of Angelsey in North Wales. It is called Lladwynn island and is very popular spot for photographers.

Time

This was taken in the late afternoon. This is an island and you can only walk across to it at certain times. If you don't check the tide times one can get cut off by the tide.

Lighting

I am not a professional photographer and this was taken on a holiday. No specific plans were made for the visit that day and it was just taken as I saw it at that time

Equipment

This image was shot on a Canon 40D one of the older Canon models with a Sigma zoom lens at f7.1 and ISO 200. No other equipment was used

Inspiration

This is a beautiful spot and a favourite spot for many photographers. There is so much opportunity to obtain different compositions of the same place, it is also a great place for photographing meteors over the lighthouse. If you are lucky you may see the wild ponies on the island.

Editing

This was processed in Photoshop elements with some use of the Nik collection

In my camera bag

My camera bodies are both Canon. A 70D and an 80D I have always been a Canon user. My lens's are Sigma. Not being able to carry heavy gear any more if I am doing general photography I usually use just one lens an 18-300 zoom

Feedback

In landscape photography composition is important. Other things to take into consideration are, the time of day, the lighting, and the settings on your camera. Depending on what the image is going to be used for using a tripod can be useful in helping to get a sharp image. Plan your image.
