Behind The Lens

Location

I took the photo in my backyard around some medicinal shrubs that my mother was growing

Time

I took it around the time of 11:00 AM in the month of June. It was a hot day and the lighting was too bright so I went to the shady part of our backyard and there I took the picture.

Lighting

I was going for a lighting which provided shade to the background of the picture but highlighted the main object that I was taking a picture of. I wanted the lighting to first make people notice the butterfly then the branch it is perched on then the background.

Equipment

This was shot on a Canon PowerShot S5 IS. I was using father's old camera as I didn't have my own and it worked out pretty well.

Inspiration

The randomness of the butterfly sitting on that particular branch inspired me to take the picture.

Editing

No, I did not do any post-processing as I didn't have much knowledge about it back then.

In my camera bag

I usually go out with an open mind while going out clicking pictures. I don't let previously set agendas to bind to a particular type if photography.

Feedback

I don't know if I am good enough to give anyone advice I just want to say that if you enjoy photography you can do it on a second hand camera and can even get good pics in the limited space of your own backyard it depends on how much creativity you put in a single frame of a camera to display your imagination. And I would also like to say that don't get stuck on the rules of photography only and find your own style and make that style guide your photography.
