Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in my quaint little hometown in Indiana right across the street from my house.

Time

I love this picture because it reminds me of the day my daughter and I were walking around one late afternoon. I was teaching her about photography and enjoying watching her get creative with her shots.

Lighting

Normally that area is a bit dark with the tree line but this late afternoon was simply gorgeous. I couldn't believe how magical the sky looked.

Equipment

I only had my camera on me since I was walking around with my daughter. It was free hand with no tripod.

Inspiration

I loved how calm the river was on that day. The mirror images of the trees was too gorgeous not to get on film. And the sky was absolutely majestic.

Editing

Yes I used Lightroom to bring out the colors and sharpened the image so it was more true to life. It's difficult to portray how magnificent the scenery is but with Lightroom I felt this was how I saw it in person.

In my camera bag

I love my Nikon D3300 paired with my 18-55mm lens. I feel this gives me the best range of focus needed for my shots. I also always keep my 70-300mm lens with me as well for more focused intimate shots.

Feedback

Always have your camera on you and ready to go because you never know when you'll see something like a beautiful sunset and you'll need to stop right then and there to get it.
