Location
I took this photo at the far end of Paddington station away from the crowds. I saw the view a took a number of photos but liked this one the best. I was also looking for a suitable one for a monthly competition at my local camera club, arch or arches, fitted perfectl, it was awarded second placeTime
It was later in the afternoon while waiting for my train. Had booked the later ticket so had a few hours to kill before returning homeLighting
It was quite a bright scene well lit by the vast amounts a glass in the roof. Although I do remember it being a very wet day outside.Equipment
I've usually got my Nikon D500 and 18-200 lens with me but not sure whether I took this on my phone. I quite often use my phone to see what the scene looks like and how the phone settings are as a starting point. Although I usually ignore them.Inspiration
I like symmetry, clean simple lines. I saw the arches within arches. The platform and the top of the trains as leading lines. I tried to tell a story and give some depth with the steps leading down.Editing
If it was the phone no it's got a 45 maga pixel camera. In my camera bag
My Nikon D500, 18-200 lens, gorilla pod Tripod. Remote release. Spare batteries, lens blower and cloth. A variable ND filter, 10 stop ND filter polarising filter, all circular and a few other things I've probably forgottenFeedback
Try different angles and perspectives, keep it simple, take your time to compose your shot. Try bracketing. Expose for the brightest areas, shoot in raw you can recover the shadows in light room or photoshop
