Ginormous! This snaked eyed mammoth moth is known as the Atlas moth, Attacus atlas, is found in Southeast Asia and is one of the largest moth species in the world. It has a wingspan of over 11 inches, and a total surface area of as much as 62 square inches. Atlas moth adults don't eat. Ever. In fact, they don't even have mouths. Once the Atlas moth emerges from the cocoon as an adult, it's sole purpose is to fly around and find a mate. This takes about two weeks, relying on the stores of energy built up as caterpillars.
