Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on an empty stretch of country road near Salemburg in North Carolina.

Time

This was really an accidental photo. It was getting close to sunset and I was really trying to capture the sky through the ruins. But my camera was on monochrome and the image just so haunting with the old abandoned house, I fell in love with it.

Lighting

I wanted to capture the sky as the sun was setting. Instead it became this gloomy, dark photo that almost looks spooky. The only thing intentional was hiding the sun behind the tree.

Equipment

Canon EOS 800 and then light corrected on my Google Pixel.

Inspiration

I love chasing sunset. I felt the abandoned house would be the perfect backdrop for the colorful sky. I’m thankful I had the camera on the wrong setting to capture this moment.

Editing

Not really, other than some light correction on my phone. I’m an amateur and really don’t know anything about post processing.

In my camera bag

Just my Canon EOS 800D. It’s all I have ????

Feedback

The backroads and the country roads in NC has lots of spectacular sites. Just takes a little bit of imagination and some luck to capture some amazing photos.
