Behind The Lens

Location

On my balcony

Time

Afternoon

Lighting

This was the biggest succulent that my mom ever grew. So before something bad happened to it, I decided to take a shot. Since I'm almost always unsatisfied with camera output, I put it through some heavy post-processing. And this photo is the result.

Equipment

Canon PowerShot SX 720HS

Inspiration

It was hot summer afternoon, I was bored, and then the urge to create something came. So I went to the balcony, and voila - spotted this beauty. This had to be captured.

Editing

I used Black theory black and white HDR filter (from SmartHDR Android app). Then I edited shadows, highlights, added contrast & clarity (All in Photoshop Express for Android).

In my camera bag

Smartphone and Canon compact camera (PowerShot SX 720HS)

Feedback

Since this is macro, I would recommend not to shoot with smartphone. Decent compact camera should be enough, but if you have DSLR with macro lens, then you can capture something far more interesting.
