This was taken on the rooftop of my house. It was a spontaneous shoot, didn't plan ahead or anything. I just had this old camera and a film lying around so I thought why not take a couple of photos.Time
It was basically shot during the afternoon, what we call the golden hour, though, it was a cloudy day, so not much gold after all.Lighting
It was a cloudy day, and I always prefer shooting at a cloudy day. As I am a natural light photographer, I depend on the natural light of the day for my photos. So if the sun is too bright, the photos come with a harsh light, so I have seen that when it's overcast, I have more control over the exposure of the photos that I Take. So it was a perfect day for me to shoot. No harsh light, just the cloudy cold vibe all around. It was quite easy to take the shot.Equipment
I use my loyal Nikon D7100 and an all rounder lens Nikkor 35 mm F/1.8G for this photo. I didn't have to use any tripod or flash.Inspiration
I wanted to capture the essence of something that is almost obsolete these days. We don't use film cameras anymore. We moved on to DSLRs, and now Mirrorless cameras. But the appeal it had, is something else. I wanted to create a nostalgic feeling with these out of order camera and film roll.Editing
I don't go crazy on post processing. I tend to adjust the basic settings, like exposure, contrast, white balance etc. And then some color grading as well. I use both Lightroom & Photoshop for editing. In my camera bag
What I usually have in my bag is my camera body- Nikon D7100, a 35mm f/1.8g lens, an 85mm f/1.8g lens, and a very basic speedlight that I never use.Feedback
I feel that each and every photo must mean at least something. It must provoke some sort of thoughts in the viewer's mind. So my suggestion would be to think about what you want to express via your photo, work on it in your mind, even compose the shot in your mind, and then execute the actual shoot. It often helps me to achieve what I want to express. I hope it can help others too!
