Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Point Pelee National Park in Ontario, Canada. It is one of my favourite places to spend a day. It has a variety of nature from the southernmost point in Canada to marshes and carolinian forest.

Time

I took the picture around 11 in the morning on the walking path to the point.

Lighting

It was still a foggy morning which gave the wood an ethereal quality.

Equipment

I use a Canon SX60HS camera when I go on nature walks. It’s a versatile camera that allows me to travel light and still be able to capture pictures from small tree frogs to eagles in trees.

Inspiration

The feeling of being in another world. I liked the way the path meandered through the woods that we’re still shrouded in fog.

Editing

I used Lightroom to bring back the picture to the way I saw the scene when I took the picture. The original was washed out. I adjusted tones and presence till I felt the picture represented why I felt at that moment.

In my camera bag

On nature walks I usually just bring the Canon SX60HS and a monopod. Otherwise I use a Canon M50 with a 50-200 mm lens and a tripod.

Feedback

I’m not an early riser and therefore I tend to miss the golden hour. Thankfully for Lightroom and photoshop I can bring photos close to what my mind’s eye sees. The most important thing is to take the picture . You may be surprised at what you captured.
