This magnificent tree is a Totara and he lives in Peel Forest, Canterbury region on the South Island of NZ. Big Tree as he's affectionately named is over a thousand years old. I wonder what wisdom he would impart and what stories he could tell after witnessing so many centuries ... should he ever speak!
