Behind The Lens

Location

I took this picture from the beach right beside North Berwick golf course and caravan park.

Time

This was about midday, it was when the tide was just coming upto high tide. The thing that stood out was how everything looked different shades of grey even the sea,

Lighting

I wanted this picture to look absolutely natural also neutral to show off everything as it was with no lighting or flash used

Equipment

Believe it or not I took this with my IPhone 7. Aperture f/1.8 ISO 20 Shutter. 1/2227 Focal length 3.99/1.

Inspiration

The thing that inspired me was it looked like a black and white picture but in different tones of grey, the white stood out as the sky was a slightly blue/grey in colour, and it exaggerated the white in the water and on Bass rock. Not only that the water where it was breaking on the rocks it added further texture and more greys in colour on the surface water

Editing

No I looked at the picture and it was so natural that there was no need to do any post process editing. What you see is exactly what I got.

In my camera bag

Normally I have my Nikon d7200 with a Sigma 18-200 mm 1:3.5-6.3 D lens, which I find useful as it goes down low enough in range and also adds a little focal length for not to distant pictures. Also my IPhone because you could miss that moment whilst taking and setting your camera.

Feedback

I found it best to take this type of picture just after a rainstorm and the tide coming in to high water to get the contrasting greys and whites too.
