Behind The Lens
Location
This photograph was taken from the top of the walkway going down into euro-Disney. This particular picture was taken because of the colours and the near perfect reflection on the surface of the water in the end of June 2019.Time
This was taken about 20 minutes after sunset, even though the sun had gone down it was quite a humid subtropical evening. The crowds of people walking back and forth had quietened right down, meaning it was the perfect time of day and I could take my time to achieve this near perfect picture.Lighting
I purposely had turned the flash off, I had tried a couple of shots beforehand with the flash on but I felt it diluted the colouring of the balloon and reflection of the lights. This was maybe only my first time with what I call a land camera, because I was used to doing underwater photography, this is completely different to what I was used to, because I was used to having big strobes and lights to try and get the perfect picture underwater. I was still getting used to the camera and was experimenting with different camera settings etc.Equipment
The equipment I used was a handheld Nikon D70, with a 18-200mm Sigma lens, and I was overjoyed with the results when we got home and I downloaded them off my camera cards.Inspiration
It was a great start to our mini- break with our two children and their grandparents. The first night we were at Euro-Disney it was a case of checking in getting everyone fed and have a walk down into the grounds of the theme. That evening I noticed all the contrast in lighting before and after sunset, but had left the camera in the hotel, I thought I had missed the opportunity, needless to say I was wrong. It made me more determined to take my camera everywhere after that. We went out in the following evening and waited for the before and after sunset, the colours I was in awe of and would say I took about one hundred pictures to get this perfect picture for me and was overjoyed to see the end product with the bright colours and tones both in the foreground and the background with the reflections cast across the water and to see everything sillouheted and so tranquil and surreal at the same time.Editing
There was very little post processing in this picture I only removed the noise and tweaked the white balance. In my camera bag
Camera was a Nikon D70 at the time. Sigma 18-200mm lens Sigma 70-300mm lens Nikon 50mm lens Mice-fibre duster Alcohol wipes, and a couple of filters for the lenses. Spare batteries CF Flashcards Now upgraded to a Nikon D7200 Sigma 150-500mm lens Tripod or monopodFeedback
Try and wait for the golden hour after sunset, just take your time and be patient, also a lot less people are about too.
