This is a photograph of my pet Mojo , taken at home with my Z6 and the nikkor 50mm 1.8 . The idea was to explore the joint abilities of the camera and lens to function in low ambient light caused due to the strong monsoon cloud cover . The walls of the corridor and the curtained windows ensured that the light was diffused .Time
It had been a slow start after walking Mojo , playing with him , cleaning up. This and its companion shots were taken between 8AM and 10AM . As soon as I saw that Mojo was settled down and generally content to watch me potter around, I picked up the camera , which I had kept ready the night prior , and laid down in front of him as close as possible to get a good tight shot , exploit the ability of the lens to shoot wide open .Lighting
I have used the natural light diffused by the window curtains and bounced off from the walls , I don't have any lighting equipment , hence prefer to use light as it is available for my workEquipment
This was shot with a Nikon Z6 and nikkor 1.8 G 50 mm prime. No other equipment was usedInspiration

I have recently invested in the mirror less genre and picked up the Nikon Z6 alongwith the kit 24 - 70 mm ,plus I have my trusty Nikon D 3000 with my sigma 150 - 600 , nikkor 50mm 1.8 , nikkor 70 - 300 mm and kit 18- 55 lenses .I carry equipment based on the type of pictures I plan on capturing on a given dayFeedback
I would strongly recommend detailed planning and preparation. I had observed Mojo sitting still intermittently in this pose over the past week and had thought of how the light would fall. So I kept the camera ready the night prior and instantly lay down in front of him as the opportunity arose, before he got distracted . I thereafter spent another hour or 2 with him , but he was curious about the camera and none of the other shots came out so well . The trick with animals is to use whatever opportunity arises while they are relaxed, the key to success is the plan and ability to improvise
