This photo was taken in the field behind the plant where I work.Time
I like using my 30 min lunch break to "get away". Working second shift puts my break at 6pm so the lighting is near perfect during the warmer months. This was one of those days.Lighting
These type of shots are my passion. I love taking nature and abstract shots. This is one of my favorites.Equipment
I didn't have my camera with me on this day, so I had to use my phone. Samsung Galaxy (an older model, AT&T pre-paid phone)Inspiration
Like I stated before, nature shot are my thing. Every once in a while I might try something a bit more artistic or abstract. I have even done a few portraits. I once did a senior portrait shoot for a friend of the family. I recently shot my first wedding. That was fun. The bulk of my work, however, is nature.Editing
My usual go-to program for post-processing is GIMP (if I am using my Nikon). I use Pixlr for the shots on my phone. Not the best app, but it does the job as you can see in this photo. In my camera bag
I have always been a Nikon guy. A couple of years ago I upgraded from the D3200 to the D7200. I would love to upgrade again to the D850, but that a little pricey for a sole-provider of a family of 6. One day though. I have a variety of lenses. Since I have the room in my bag, I carry them all. I like to be prepared for any situation. I think my 4 favorite are the 1) 60mm f/2.8 2:1 macro. I would like it more if it were AF. 2) 35mm f/2 prime. 3) 70-300mm f/4-5.6 and 4) 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 I am looking to purchase a "Nifty Fifty" soon. I am sure it will end up on my favorites list.Feedback
The only advice I can give for others trying to capture something similar is this: Even when your not looking for a shot, never stop looking for a shot. It's what I live by. Happy hunting, everyone.
