Behind The Lens

Location

The photograph was taken at Eden Gardens in Ventura County, California. Thus was the location of my Son's recent wedding. I saw these "Love birds" there and they symbolized for me the union was about to be made. A well-matched couple very much in love.

Time

This was taken at about 11 am the first time I went to the venue. It was mid-summer and the days prior had been hot. Eden Garden is a tropical treed oasis in the California desert. It has rained the night before and when I arrived it was cool. I saw the birds just as the clouds clear and light filtered through the canopy of trees above.

Lighting

As the rain cleared late morning, light beams found their way through the parting folds of clouds to highlight the colors of the birds.

Equipment

Sony A7 iii. I used a 70-300mm Sony Lens. No tripod.

Inspiration

I like the position of the birds, their colors, and what they represented. The way the light beams landed on the birds was the icing on the cake.

Editing

I applied very little post-processing. T darkened the background slightly using Capture-One 12 - Sony. I have generated some other JPG's from the RAW file darkening the background substantially. They look very cool but in general, I prefer to upload photographs with minimal processing.

In my camera bag

My Sony A7-iii of course. I always have the following lenses: A Sony-Zeiss 35mm f2.8, Ziess Batis 85mm f1.8, Sony 16-35mm, and a Sony 70-300mm.
