Rescue & Release

My yard cat often brings me live prey so that I might also learn to be del sufficient. This evening as I was coming into the house she delivered it to me and dropped it at my feet. It revived in a mad scramble but she recaptured it twice. Finally it didn't move so I picked it up thinking it dead and saw it was a flying squirrel. As I entered the house, arms loaded with womanly periphenalia and hand gingerly cradling what I thought was a dead squirrel felt a sudden and piercing pain! He bit me! Not so dead after all!
