Behind The Lens

Location

In my backyard goldfish pond. Much to our dismay, my teen granddaughters and their boyfriends sabotaged our fish pond with at least fourteen tadpoles they netted from our lake. Once we discovered them, we then spent the next several months watching them grow into mature bullfrogs!

Time

It was mid morning, early summer.

Lighting

Our fish pond gets both shade and full sun from several different angles throughout the day.

Equipment

Canon PowerShot XS530 HS. Daytime shot, no flash. My 83 yr old husband suprised me with this camera for my birthday. We had recently moved to our new lake home which had a plethera of waterbirds. He got tired of hearing me complain that I just couldn't get good shots with my mobile phone camera. So he went to our local Best Buy store and sought out a clerk for some assistance. When asked what type of camera he was wanting, he responded with, " well, I don't know anything about cameras, but what I want is a camera that I can stand right here and take a picture way over there of a girl...in a BIKINI."! I think he made a great buy!

Inspiration

We spend hours everyday in our backyard sitting around the goldfish pond counting both fish and bullfrogs, being entertained by their antics. This particular frog was just hanging onto a pecan bloom frond. I was attempting to truly capture both his green-ness and the nearby leaf. I only realized I'd caught his wonderful reflection afterwards!

Editing

No post-processing processing.

In my camera bag

Just my Cannon PowerShot.
