I'm jealous! Where do you live that you have all those owls to photograph???
Great shot, too, by the way.

Location
This photo was taken down at our local fair grounds. The nesting tree this little guy was in was just a few yards away. The perch it is on is a frame for a tent that stays up year round.Time
This photo was taken in early morning. I would stop by this local nest before work to document their growth.Lighting
The lighting wasn't the best. It was backlit and I didn't have a flash with me to put some more light on the front of the owl.Equipment
I used a Sony a6000 with a older sigma 150-500 A mount lens with a sony LA-EA4 adapter. The photo was taken handheld. The owl was flying, came in and landed for just a second and thats when this picture was taken and right after I snapped the shot it took off again. This was the best shot out of the series taken. The focusing on the lens wasn't the best and rather slow.Inspiration
What inspired you to take this photo? The inspiration is a love of photography, and wildlife! I have watched this nest for a long time. The mother comes back every year and I'm lucky enough to capture them every step of the way. From them hatching, to finally leaving their nest.Editing
The only post processing I did was lighten the shadows a little bit. I'm not very good at post work, and I defiantly need to work on that a lot more. Most of my photos in my feed are only brightened a little. There are a couple where I've tried to do some more work on, and you all can probably tell what ones they are from the novice attempt. Other than brightening they are straight from the camera. In my camera bag
Since taking this photo I've upgraded most of my equipment. Cameras: Main camera is a Sony A7 II. Backup is still the old Sony a6000 I also shoot a lot of film. 35mm, medium format, as well as large format. There are a couple pictures I've scanned and uploaded on my feed. Lenses: Sigma 150-600 Sport, Sigma 105mm macro, Sony 85mm 1.8, Sony 28-70 Kit Lens, Samyang 14mm 2.8, Tripod/heads: Gitzo GT3531LS, Cheap Movo carbon fiber Gimbal Head, Leophoto LH-55 ball head.Feedback
The only advice I would have is persistence. Don't get discouraged and keep taking pictures. Eventually you will get the picture you're after. To be honest, I still haven't gotten the shot I've been after with this group of owls. But I will. It's only a matter of time. Wether it is this years owls or next years group. I will eventually get it!
