Standing on the steps to the exercise yard at Alcatraz....what an odd feeling! To think that famous inmates such as Al Capone, George 'Machine Gun' Kelly and Arthur 'Doc' Barker would have stood on these very steps as they headed down for exercise. So near and yet so far stands the Golden Gate Bridge...they must have looked over the water and wondered how to escape. No large gaping holes in the mesh fencing back then though!
