Got the opportunity to visit a Mayan women's cooperative in San Antonio, Belize. The goal of their group is to promote awareness and teach rich Mayan cultural history, crafts, foods, etc. Corn is a staple of their diets and hand-grinding it to make tortillas is done daily in Mayan homes. I tried it and it is definitely not as easy as they make it look.
