Hummingbirds continuously vie for feeding rights, resulting in occasional aerial combat These fights can be vicious at times, especially when a dominant male is trying to lord over the food source. But females hold their own a can even defeat a male with multiple birds overwhelming the dominant male. Capturing a hummer in flight is challenging since the focal range you have to work with is very narrow and the birds are extremely fast. To capture two birds fighting, you they must cross the focal plane precisely at a fixed location where your camera is focused. Capturing two birds within same focal plane is rare and requires much patience. I hope you enjoy this photo, as it was acquired from perhaps a thousand of frame captures.
