This photo was taken at an impromptu wedding for an awesome couple who worked so hard to make their day happen. This was at their family farm in rural Colorado.Time
This photo was taken just before Golden Hour with the sun setting to the face of the of the cake casting a beautiful, slightly orange hue.Lighting
It was just before Golden hour with the sun setting over the Rocky Mountains. The cake was facing the sunset which casted the slightest bit of beautiful orange light.Equipment

This couple was amazing! The wind had come up the night before and blown over the tents they had already set up for the reception. Everyone in the family came together starying very early in the morning to get new tents set up and a ton of decorating done in time for a 4pm wedding. I was told to be there at 3 but when I found out how much was left to be done to make it come together I left early to get there. I helped alongside family and friends to decorate and set up before I began taking photos. The bride has MS and it was a very hot day, so she wasn't in the best of spirits to be standing outside for long periods of time. When she saw how beautiful we had managed to make their family property she was overjoyed. This cake was beautiful and delicious and it brightened her spirits! I made some great friends that day, and am glad I was able to clear my schedule to be there for them at the last minute.Editing

Mostly batteries. I tend to only take along the lenses needed for that shoot.Feedback
Watch your angles but be creative! This had a bit of baby's breath in the foreground which gives it a little depth. I liked that the wood and cake had the same symbol on them and it brought the two together in the photo. It gives a bit of perspective on the decor of the wedding without taking away from the cake.
