I took this photo around Lake Arrowhead in Southern California.Time
It was a cool, cloudy afternoon when I was on my way back home from taking pictures in the mountains when I decided to stop by this puddle for the last shot of the day.Lighting
I was really excited to go out and capture the fall mood. It had been raining earlier that morning but the clouds were still thick so they provided a nice soft light.Equipment
I took this photo on a canon 6D Mark II handheld with a 17-40mm lens. I also brought a bunch of leafs from home and ended up using one as the subject of this photo.Inspiration
I’ve always loved taking pictures of puddles I loved how the cracks in the paint under the water made for some really interesting texture to compliment the leaf.Editing
I edit all of my photos using Adobe Lightroom and this picture was no different. This is actually the picture that became a staple of my editing techniques as far as color and tone.In my camera bag
In my camera bag I have my canon 6D Mark II, with canon lenses that are 17-40mm, 50mm, and 70-200mm. I also always have a tripod, speed lights and gels, and a few little survival things in case of emergency.Feedback
If you ever have an idea or theme kind of photo you want to take (for me it was leaves) don’t be afraid to bring props along with you to set the mood of the photo you are trying to create. And if you ever take a photo on a road I always have friends with me that are spotting for cars. Stay safe.
